Mid-year social media review

Social Media Review 2019

Not really sure how you got to this point in the year? Nope, we don’t know either! With the summer season well and truly in full swing and that ‘half-way through the year, what have I achieved feeling’ sinking in, we thought we’d check in and encourage you to do a social media review to see how you’re doing.

The social media trends that were set to be hot for 2019 according to Hootsuite:

As a refresh, the social trends that were set to be ‘hot’ for 2019 were:

  • Rebuilding trust
  • Storifying social
  • Closing the ads gap
  • Cracking the commerce code
  • Messaging eats the world

So, what does this really mean?

Rebuilding trust – Tighter circles of trust, influence, engagement evolution.
Storifying social – The rise of low-fi, 1:1 format and scale and ROI measurement.
Closing the ads gap – Investing in creativity, personalisation, new ads format.
Cracking the commerce code – Shoppable posts, mobile video, live streaming.
Messaging eats the world – Private spaces, unified inboxes, AI & Bots.

Hands up, who recognises some of these trends that have already been implemented during the first half of 2019? Instagram, in particular, has changed the game with their stories features, shoppable functions and now the updated release of branded content features to come…

What’s still to come…

Instagram is set to drop a stop motion feature in stories, perfect for those of you out there who want to get a little playful with your foodie shots and product imagery.

Stories in general, be that on Instagram, Facebook and Snapchat will continue to grow in popularity on both a brand and personal level.

The remainder of 2019 will see a continued partnership with influencers and micro influencers in the industry as they proceed to create engaging and visually appealing third-party content for brands to reshare to raise brand awareness and increase follows for both accounts.

Where are you at?

Now is the time to sit down and work out where you’re at and where you want to be by the end of the year. What are your goals? Do you want to increase your brand awareness? Raise your social followers? Drive more conversions on your website? Setting these goals will ensure that the second half of the year is a successful one.
