British Food Favourites

British Food Fortnight is just around the corner and we are gearing up for what should be a momentous 14 days. In almost 15 years British Food Fortnight has become the opportunity for people to come together and celebrate the fantastic industry that is brewing right on our doorstep.

Whilst we are partial to a whole world of different cuisines, there are many fantastic British food brands that are simply worth shouting about – here are few we are championing.

Leon

When it comes to lunch in the Kitch office, Leon has become a firm favourite. This chain of UK based restaurants offer “naturally fast food” that is sure to whet your appetite. Their Mediterranean inspired dishes are not only mouthwatering but packed with nutritious, natural ingredients sourced locally from trustworthy places.

Leon continue to employ innovative ideas such as replacing butters with healthier fats and encouraging the consumption of fish and chicken over red meats. They provide customers with food that tastes good and is good for you.

Outside of their restaurants, Leon have produced a range of cookbooks to aid home cooks with the ability to develop healthy eating habits at home. Our favourite would be the One Pot Naturally Fast Recipes book, as it’s so simple to follow and is a lifesaver for nights when you can’t be bothered to spend hours slaving over a hot stove.

The Hungry Guest

Right here in the heart of West Sussex is a hidden gem of a bakery, The Hungry Guest. Although they only began their journey in 2011 following the vision and creativity of its co-founder, Troels Bendix, The Hungry Guest are connoisseurs of artisan baking with several of their breads earning national awards such as Gold Taste Awards and Triptree World Bread Awards.

As well as selling their quality bakes and locally sourced meats in their own shops and cafes, The Hungry Guest supplies over 70 external outlets, allowing more customers across the UK to indulge in their delicious food.

Next time you’re in the South Downs be sure to pop by one of The Hungry Guest’s cafes for a bite to eat – we strongly recommend their scrumptious sourdough.

Barfoots Grown With Love

Screen Shot 2016-09-08 at 14.30.47Our very own Barfoots Grown With Love couldn’t be a better example of an authentic British produce brand. With a community focused ethos and ever-growing development of sustainable farming techniques, Barfoots are paving the way for holistic, environmentally friendly farming across the UK.

Not only is Barfoots produce grown with love (see what we did there?) but they taste pretty fantastic too. The variety of vegetables on offer are constantly increasing with fresh, fully prepared sweetcorn, seasonally prepared roasting vegetables and spiralised vegetables, recently added to the bill.

Whats more Barfoots have regularly teamed up with some of the best chefs in Britain to bring easy-to-follow recipes, involving their ingredients such as this deliciously healthy Coconut Curry by Freya Ross. From crop to kitchen to plate, Barfoots are spicing up the British food industry and we can’t wait to see what they do next.
